Since having kids, especially two kids, my mindset has changed towards roadtrips. After a few international-across-the-world trips with the kids, I’ve started to warm to the idea of simple quick escapes without having to worry about getting to the airport on time and making sure we have everything on hand for the flight journey and praying the kids won’t be difficult. So far, we have been lucky because they have been generally angels on all our trips so there’s no reason why I need to consider this but golly gosh, the stress of ‘just in case’!
Instead, being able to chuck a few things in the car and head out and well, there are no other strangers in our car if the kids decide to throw a tantrum and if anything is missing, we’ll just get it whenever! How relaxing!
I always feel like we get a bit of an itchy feet around this time of the year. Maybe it’s the arrival of spring with the weather warming up and wanting to start heading outdoors after being cooped up the whole of winter. Alright, our winter ain’t that bad but you know what I mean!
We headed up to Toowoon Bay, a two hour drive from Sydney for a quick 3 day escape and just relaxed with the kids. It was pure bliss and relaxation. We got ourselves a cosy little airbnb cottage which was just up the road from the beach and that whole time, we were either hanging out at home or at the beach. Oh, and Mr R took the kids into town to watch the pelicans feed too! It was just what our winter-worned out souls needed for this time of the year!
