We were in London for 4 days and (thanks to me!) our time there mostly revolved around shopping. On our one day set aside for sightseeing, we popped into Nordic Bakery in SOHO for a leisurely breakfast. Surprisingly, the shop was almost full with people having their breakfast meetings. It was awesome! They all looked so carefree in their business casual attires. If we pretended to be scribbling away on a notepad while having breakfast together, we could have been having a breakfast meeting too just like them.
We couldn’t decide what to have and service was sparse. The lady at the counter didn’t bother to greet us nor try to serve us. We could have stood there until the cows came home and I don’t think she would be bothered until another customer walked in. We had to flag her at the counter to serve us.
Everything looked so good that we decided that we would get a couple of their bakery items and share them between us. We got the Tosca cake, Rustic Oatmeal Cookie and their infamous Cinnamon bun.
Their Cinnamon bun was to die for. It was sticky, sweet with loads of cinnamon and delicious. Everything we got was somehow sweet and sticky. The Rustic Oatmeal Cookie was crunchy yet sweet and sticky. And the Tosca cake was dense with loads of almonds. It was served cold and because it was so dense, it was quite a workout to finish it! I think if it were served warm, it would probably be easier to eat and wouldn’t lose any of the sticky sweetness that makes it so good.
Bar the poor customer service, the food was actually pretty good. They’ve definitely not scrimped on the ingredients and the servings are generous. We had quite a meal between us but I’d say a cinnamon bun and a coffee would be enough to fill you for the morning to go sightseeing!
