First stop: Singapore.
Celine picked us up from the airport as she always do. Okay, not this time. Clever me decided to leave my mobile phone at home (it doesn’t work properly the darn thing) completely forgetting that everyone’s number is on it! Smart move there, Joycie! As Murphy’s Law would have it, Celine got stuck in traffic and arrived late and since we didn’t actually confirmed that she was picking us up this time, we waited a while then took the taxi into the city. Crazy start to our trip, ain’t it? Luckily, she remembered which hotel we were staying at and found us there!
And the first thing we did? Shopping!! We trotted off to Zara and Ryan found his wedding tie!!
I really really liked the tie and wanted to get a different colour for his bestman and groomsman too but it only came in one colour (boo!). Still, we were really pleased with our find!!
*another happy dance*
After that, we were treated to an awesome Japanese degustation dinner at Miz restaurant down in Chinatown by our friends. Celine had to really put her foot down with this dinner since I was adamant to have our usual food court/hawker fare. Back in Sydney, we get really good Japanese too but this one was just out of this world! Yum yum!!
It was a 7 course menu and I was especially enamoured with the medium fatty tuna sashimi and prawn sashimi. I’ve never had any of them before. I don’t think I’ver ever seen them offered in Sydney. The tuna was just so soft and buttery that it melts in your mouth. The prawn reminded me of when I tried lobtster sashimi a couple of years back.
I loved these fried oysters too. It was drizzled with some mayo and fish roe and another sauce, teppanyaki maybe and it was delightful. I loveee oysters!!
I think this was pork… it was really succulent and tender!! I remembered wishing that there was more than one served. Feeling hungry already…
The other best bit was our black sesame ice cream for dessert. Simple yet rich and decadent, it is my favourite ice cream flavour after rum and raisin. You can definitely never go wrong with ice cream for dessert too.
And a picture of us. We were happily satisfied after the meal. Just writing about this trip is already making me wished I’m back in Singapore. Next time, I’ll spend longer than a day so I can try out some other awesome delicious food as well as have my hawker food. 😛
